REFINEMENT.

“A life of peace, purity, and refinement leads to a calm and untroubled old age.”- Cicero

Refinement is the stripping away and clarification of ones being; whether that be internal, external, or both. Think of this process as removing impurities from one’s life. As we age, the veil often grows thinner, and the personal lens through which we view the world becomes clearer. With that clarity, we begin to see more distinctly what we wish to keep within our immediate sphere and what we are ready to release, allowing us to continually refine our precious bodily vessel and deepen the quality of our human experience.

To illuminate this further, consider the process of refining candles. Raw wax must first undergo purification, a process that removes impurities such as excess oils, odors, and unwanted colors. By stripping these elements away, what remains is a purer, cleaner state.

Now consider your own life through this metaphor.

There is an invitation within it: to continue refining who you are, little by little, gently chipping away the parts of yourself that are no longer needed. With each layer released, you become brighter, more fully embodied, and more radiant. Much like the flicker of a candle, your very essence begins to glow.

Refinement is a lifelong process—one that unfolds from beginning to end. While we may all share the same ultimate destination, the way we travel matters. As you move forward day by day, week by week, month by month, and year by year, remember to continue refining who you are so that your essence remains aligned with who you came here to be.

Be well, and shine on.
