“Self-care means giving yourself permission to pause.” —Cecilia Tran
Self-care is one my favorite practices to advocate for. Why? It’s simple. When you take care of yourself you will be better at everything you do in life. When you are nourished you will have more to draw from, you will have lower stress levels and improved mental and physical health, your mood will be lifted, your outlook on life will be more positive, and you will likely be more present for those in your life. These are all incredible wins that will give you stamina and a nudge in the right direction.
For so many the T-word seems to be the stumbling block. Time. So many feel they don’t have time to take care of themselves. I have learned over the years that micro-dosing self-care is the way to go. Do small things for yourself throughout the day that will add up to you feeling cared for by the time your head hits the pillow. Make your morning coffee and tea feel like a ritual by pulling out your favorite cup, putting on soft music, and adding aromatherapy. Even five minutes here can re-route your day. You can add in a 5-10 minute meditation/ prayer/ gratitude practice anywhere that feels most aligned with your life and schedule. Pack yourself a healthful meal that you will enjoy at work or treat yourself to something delicious, if you can. Sneak out for a 20 minute walk or jog to get the endorphins pumping. Consider rubbing a nice oil on your hands and feet before you crawl into bed at night. These are some ideas to jump start your amazing journey to start dancing more regularly with self-care. Self-care is not selfish. Self-care will keep you lifted and glowing. Micro-dose more goodness into your life on the daily.
