“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”- Helen Keller
What does community mean to you? How can you invite more community into your life? Feeling like you are part of something bigger can greatly impact your sense of well-being and self worth. Being a conscious member of your community or perhaps even in your immediate family can really help you to feel grounded and connected. Having a sense of connection can improve your communication, patience, tolerance and can help to cultivate more loving-kindness within yourself. It also creates a sense of feeling supported and valued and this in turn helps foster personal growth and a desire to keep changing and making personal strides.
The definition of community may vary from individual to individual but one constant remains the same and that is the idea that we are all here living and breathing and walking this planet together. It doesn’t matter where you live, what you do, or what makes you tick. What matters is that we begin to work together, release fear and judgment and works towards unity.
The way our society is set up today, there is less focus placed on community and more emphasis placed on individual reality. We have really shifted this focus and there is much more isolation than ever before. Many people live in the confines of their walls at home and have forgotten what it means to feels a sense of connection and community, which is a harsh reality. Depression and anxiety are on the rise. We need to lean on each other and build one another up. Step out to step in. Cultivate community. Reach out to those around you. Volunteer. Shine you heart.
